Born Out of Exasperation

The creation of this blog was motivated by frustration and disappointment.

The tip of the ice berg was when the story broke that A*Star threatened legal action towards AcidFlask, a PSC scholar who broke his bond and who had the audacity to air dirty laundry of the officialdom in the Singapore blogosphere.

Too long have we lived under an high-handed regime which treats its citizens like kids, digits, and peons.

A system which and snuffs out political opposition ruthlessly; which numbs its citizens with propaganda and curtailed alternative perspectives; which explains its actions with excuses dressed as pragmatic justifications; where certain groups of people accrued a dispproportionate amount of power and wealth.

It is sickening to see objective, rational and critical alternative views being curtailed because of direct high-handed intervention or coerced self-censorship. It is sickening to see history being whitewashed and written as HIS story. It is sickening to see the restricted availability of information for my fellow citizens. It is sickening to adhere to the rules of the critical dialogue discourse, using tact and subtle language, for fear of incurring the wrath of the Powers to Be. It is sickening to see and live in the carefully constructed environment that breeds ignorance and apathy.

It's increasingly hard to believe that the official stance of "opening" up was sincere. For too long, their actions simply do not match their words. The preaching of responsibility in free speech, insistence of identity disclosure when making critical comments, are but means of control and ensnarement. Indeed, the administrator of New Sintercom was wise and prudent in his decision to remain anonymous.

Contrary to the tone above, this is not a Singapore-bashing blog. This is merely a place where alternative opinions and resources on the history, current affairs and politics concerning the little red dot will be posted.

This blog will strive to maintain a high level of factual and historical accuracy where events and facts are concerned, but opinions will not be censored. You will find mostly critical and controversial pieces here. However, it is not the agenda of this blog to spread dissent and partisanship. Singaporeans are already seeing through rose-tinted glasses from the biased media every single day. Hopefully, the materials on this blog will provide a pair of jaundiced lenses for a more neutralized and balanced vision.
